Tarot: Major Arcana

The major arcana shows greater secrets – the underlying spiritual shift and feeling underlying your daily experiences. Statistically they are rarer to find than the Minor cards so they are a BIG deal.

0. The Fool

” Rolling off to a fresh start, even if it’s off a cliff – might just be what you need “

Imagery

  • The card depicts a black and white cat in funny glasses rolling on it’s back, immediately to the left there is a sharp cliff that’ll send you tumbling down into the unknown, in the distance are sharp mountain peaks covered in ice – or is it just a party hat?

Upright

  • new beginnings and spontaneity
  • a clean slate
  • being carefree and optimistic
  • path towards self discovery and ultimately wisdom

Reversed

  • you are uncovering an unfinished side of yourself
  • something is holding you back from authenticity
  • might it be immaturity? or perhaps pure recklessness?
  • release yourself from any insincerity and let truthfulness be restored

1. The Magician

” You have everything within reach, time to allow it to manifest “

Imagery

  • The card depicts a pure white cat, beholder of the 4 elements: the wand (Fire), the cup (Water), the sword (Air) and the Pentacle (Earth). The magician has it all, the power of healing, transformation, alchemy. his halos represents heaven and earth.
    • The fire wands represent ambition, creativity, power, intuition and enthusiasm
    • The cup of water represents emotions, love, relationships, psyche and instinct
    • The sword of air represent intellect, concepts, thinking and reasoning
    • The pentacle disc of earth represent materialistic thing, the feeling of being grounded, security, loyalty, practicality and dependability

Upright

  • power to manifest something unique
  • start something new and exciting
  • focus on your goals
  • keep you imagination opened
  • you have that magic within you, just believe in it

Reversed

  • manipulation and trickery
  • you might be working against yourself, you ideas, impulses, creativity – or perhaps someone or something is communicating this energy
  • perhaps you feel uncomfortable within yourself
  • doing lose hope, have courage in your convictions and speak your truth

3. The High Priestress

” You hold the power within you, trust you intuition and weight your options “

Imagery

  • The card depicts a grey cat with her two different coloured tail moving in opposite directions – one black and one white, darkness and light, good and evil. In her hand holds the crescent moon, a divine energy, it sees all – even something that’s hidden. Above three pomegranate, perhaps reminiscent of the goddess Persephone.

Upright

  • you have good intuition, let it guide you, ask within yourself and you’ll find an answer – no matter how deep
  • inner wisdom – balance with your emotions

Reversed

  • your problem originates from within you, so why are you so attracted in your inner life?
  • it’s bound the lessen you interest in the ordinary reality, friends, family, relationship
  • it’s a reminder to balance your outer identities with the internal cultivation

4. The Empress

” The cards radiates feminine energy – a queen always provides “

Imagery

  • The card depicts a brown and white cat with her belly exposed. There is an abundance of nature surrounding her from the 12 stars connecting her to the mystical realms, to the 2 pomegranates representing love, harmony and fertility, to the rainbows, flowers and leaves representing the earth, abundance and blessing.

Upright

  • fertility, nourishment and security
  • other might find you’re energy soothing

Reversed

  • insecurities swarms you
  • lack of progress
  • tremendous punitive natural power is to fall on you or those close to you

5. The Emperor

” You are the at the highest you can be – but though an emperor might look like a king, he is but a servant to all in his realm “

Imagery

  • The card depicts a great ginger cat with a crown. He is holding a planet in his paws, only space lies over his head. Strong structures lies either side like a chess board.

Upright

  • you are a source of organised stability, both within yourself or to others
  • enlightenment and cosmic power lies within your hand
  • control and fair leadership
  • master of manifestation and confidence
  • authority and structure

Reversed

  • your reign with arrogance and tyranny – you crave being indulges and serviced
  • you prefer things going your way and you have your own visions for things
  • be careful, you might risk losing respect from those around you

6. The Hierophant

” The high priest governs the scholarly laws of energy, nature and secrets “

Imagery

  • the card depicts a blue cat with flying above the clouds, above is a set of keys and whirls of magical wonders.

Upright

  • tradition and knowledge are keys to unlocking mysteries
  • learn from a guide or someone you trust

Reversed

  • rebellion against tradition and spiritual beliefs – whether due-fully or not
  • you are living unconventionally
  • you are biting the hand that is feeding you – reconnect with generations and traditions

7. The Lovers

” Endearingly, Love is such a silly thing “

Imagery

  • the card depicts a two cats sleeping in a pile, they are harmonious though they are different (one white-and-black and one black-and-white). An angel looks from above along with the red and blue moon.

Upright

  • love and partnership whether platonic or romantic or in work life
  • communicate with open heart and enjoy the good times to come
  • a romantic relationship is intrinsically challenging, the path to pleasure of then lead away from self discovery

Reversed

  • imbalance reigns and you should not just get along with it
  • disconnection with oneself or other close to you
  • admit your resistance and own it up to yourself

8. The Chariot

” Charge forth my mighty chariot “

Imagery

  • a yellow cat riding a box driven by the black and the white. The floor is wavy as if it twists and turns. The sky is dark and full of stars

Upright

  • focus and control
  • ambition and challenge
  • freedom and heroism
  • there may be twist and turns but in the end you’ll triumph
  • the faster you go, the harder you’ll crash

Reversed

  • you might be feeling lost and powerless
  • it’s time to pick up the reins and take responsibility to take your life into motion

9. Strength

” Strength is in the energy which neutralises conflict “

Imagery

  • a strong set of disembodied green arms gently restraining a tuxedo cat, a beast in it’s own right.

Upright

  • courage and confidence in persuasion and leadership
  • how nature, no matter how wild, may be controlled by our inner self
  • will and passion need not be broken but gently brought into consciousness

Reversed

  • doubt and weakness
  • you might be at a position of little power to persuade or lead this uncontrollable force
  • look into the subtleties that was once over looked and bring them back to light
  • or perhaps it’s time to lay low for a bit and let the relentless storm blow over

10. The Hermit

” What will it be, solitude or isolation “

Imagery

  • the card depicts a cat hiding under layers of stars blanket, deep in the darkness, the floor is jagged. 

Upright

  • it’s time to unplug from the noise and listen deep. 
  • introspection, solitude and spiritual growth lies in the quiet darkness
  • take a step back and reevaluate what’s really important to you

Reversed

  • you might be too isolated and withdrawn 
  • ghosting your emotions or staying too deep into reflection
  • anxiety fills you and you’re sidestepping away from something important within 
  • are you truly reflecting, or just spiralling out of control 

11. Wheel of Fortune

” What goes around comes around “

Imagery

  • a two tiered multicoloured spinning wheel, all suspended in the clouds, governed by the four moons representing each element (fire, earth, wind and air), and carried by two cats, one black and another orange. Swirly lines represents its motion, nothing stays the same forever.

Upright 

  • a New cycle is to come and it had  already set charge in motion
  • action have consequences
  • fortune can change
  • nature is cyclical noting is permanent and nothing is predictable

Reversed

  • stuck in a spiral you can’t seem to break from
  • things feeling out of sync, unfair and out of control – it may feel like bad luck but you’re turn is coming 
  • stop the need to micromanage the universe
